Digitally printed film for coffee pod range

Utilising its Digiflex technology, UNI Packaging has been awarded for three print jobs at the inaugural French digital packaging awards, Les Trophées de l’Emballage Numérique, which was held in Paris in January.

The company produced stand up pouches for IDS Conditionnement, which chose Digiflex to develop its range of superfood – a winner in the food category. With 14 SKUs in the range and regular changes in design to reflect amendments in ingredients, digital print enabled the manufacturer to go to market cost effectively.

Beverage Scouts used the technology for PET shrink sleeves for its aluminium can range, which was printed in seven colours on UNI Packaging’s HP Indigo 20000 press and won in the shrink sleeve beverage category. This particular range is driven by event campaigns, and the printing company’s offering enables a high-speed response time, whilst offering increased print coverage compared to a label.

Finally, in the film beverage category, a new coffee pod range from Lobodis won. Cost effectiveness and speed to market were again key motivators for the brand, as was the ability to colour match existing gravure-printed film. A further benefit was having no minimum order quantity, allowing Lobodis to print exactly what was needed.
